Kathya Maria Landeros (USA) My grandmother Antonia was diagnosed with dementia 3 years ago. She was the matriarch of our family and a second mother to my sisters and me. As her illness progressed, the roles reversed and my mother became her primary caretaker. Abuelita (Spanish for grandmother) passed away a year after this photograph was taken.
