The OYAKO Day Promotion Committee<\/b><\/span> is pleased to announce the recipients of the 19th \u201cOYAKO Award 2025\u201d<\/b><\/span>, selected with reference to the many thoughtful votes and comments received through our online poll.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s award goes to photographer Ittetsu Morishita<\/b><\/span> and his daughter Miho Morishita<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The late Ittetsu Morishita<\/b><\/span> was a dedicated photographer who, for nearly half a century, documented the lives of atomic bomb survivors and advocated for nuclear disarmament both in Japan and abroad. He was also the founder of the NPO World Hibakusha Exhibition<\/b><\/span>, and provided invaluable photographic records to the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations (Hidankyo)<\/b><\/span>, which later received the Nobel Peace Prize.<\/p>\n

His daughter Miho<\/b><\/span> has faithfully carried on her father\u2019s mission. She embraces the prayers and messages embedded in each of his photographs and continues to share the importance of peace. Her efforts transcend the concept of \u201cparent and child,\u201d passing on a baton of hope that connects people across generations, nations, and time.<\/p>\n

In recognition of her work, Miho Morishita received a certificate of commendation<\/b><\/span> from OYAKO Day<\/b><\/span>, along with a special prize<\/b><\/span> from our sponsor, Choya Umeshu Co., Ltd.<\/b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
